Well, it’s been a while and from the title of the post, you may be able to guess where I’ve been spending some of my time…OK, most of my time.
So, what is Fubar?…in a nutshell, a pseudo online bar that you can meet new friends, buy virtual drinks and gifts as well as throwing actual real money away like it means nothing…lol But another way of putting it is, a censored online popularity contest between people that range from, someone that shouldn’t even own a camera to very pretty people, from people that have shitty personalities to the most awesome friends that you’d want to meet in real life. Make no mistake about it, the place can be addicting if you’re in need of some attention in your life - after all, we all like to be adored, thought of as beautiful, handsome, sexy, talented…etc. etc. etc. I’ll admit to being an attention whore that seems to fit right in there…
If you’re curious or would just like to help me out a little, you can click this link to join me and my friends…I’ll get you shitfaced as soon as I see ya’ there…lol
c’mon, it’ll be fun

What a difference a year makes in your life, huh?

In 1990, I was recovering from some problems in my life and really just going through the motions. I was doing a lot of partying, making friends, and met a really hot girl that was totally into me. Well, as I’ve found, the hotter the girl, the crazier they are. We had a very “on again, off again” type of thing going and during one of those “off again” periods, I thought it would be great to just get the flock outta dodge, so to speak. I figured, if I wasn’t around, I wouldn’t do something crazy like getting back together with her. Of course, I also had the whole “this’ll make me a better person” thing going on…toughen me up a bit, ya’ know? So, I go to a recruiter, take the tests (scored a 96 on the ASVAB, thank you very much), and get sworn in. Before I shipped out to Fort Benning, I get a call from aforementioned crazy hot girl and she goes mental that I’m leaving. Some remorse for my decision was felt but, oh well, the deed was done and I had to honor my obligation to the US Army. Now, before going further I must add, being a high school drop out and only having acquired a GED, this does not sit well with Uncle Sam and my options for active duty were limited to Army Reserve (96 on the ASVAB and I’m not suitable for full-time army?..BITE ME!). So, of course, after the 4 months of basic training, I came home to have crazy hot girl waiting for me.
What was accomplished by all this?
A hair cut that I could’ve done myself, a wardrobe that I’d only use for about 36 days a year, being subjected to random drug testing, getting in the best shape of my life up to that point and putting on a bit of much needed weight, having people yell at me and making me do push-ups, and being obligated to go to war, should the need arise (it never did)…I guess that’s about it…OK, maybe in hindsight it was fun and added to my character, too.
And guess what, crazy hot girl and I continued to have our “on again, off again” thing for a couple more years…right up until I married her!!!!
Sorry if you were looking for a moral in the story and just found out I was a friggan nut. I was trying to find one, myself. OK, how ’bout this. Don’t join the fuckin Army to get away from your own craziness and boredom in your life?…Sounds good to me!

So, it’s probably more than apparent that I abandoned this site for the better part of 2 years now. The same goes for my online life. Around the same time as my last post in 2007, I became somewhat bored and disenchanted with the web and most things tech related. That hasn’t changed much but I sat here yesterday looking around the site and noticed how out of date my WordPress installations were and figured I update it to address any vulnerabilities in security. As you can see if you look around, with the exception of a couple very old pages written in basic html, the whole damn site is based around WordPress. Not that it’s a big site but there are 3 separate installations of WordPress. One for the main site layout, a second that is pretty much identically themed for this blog, and one for Jacob’s blog. While it’s not hard to upgrade, it did take some time, as I had not backed up anything from the site, including my databases since 2007. Anyway, after all the backing up, it’s pretty much as easy as drag and drop to upgrade but I thought I borked the whole damn site by getting my DBs confused. After the upgrade, I was greeted with white pages and DB errors up the wazoo, so I figured I edited all my configs with the wrong info. It never occurred to me to try logging in to the admin panel but finally doing so told me I needed to update my databases which WordPress does automatically for you. After doing that on the three installations the site was fully upgraded and back to normal.
Now, what’s in store for the site? How long will I maintain or abandon it for again? These are the things I can’t answer.
But I will say this, I’ve been slowly bringing myself up to speed about what I’ve missed in the last 2 years and have somewhat renewed the geeky-ness in my life.
I’ve always had an interest in A/V and that seems to have led me to want to try being another attention whore douchebag on youtube. My first attempt at a video will be deleted promptly as soon as I make the necessary hardware upgrades to produce something worth watching. As should be expected, a webcam does not produce the quality in either video or audio that I would be satisfied posting on youtube. So, with the use of my Canon ZR-500, a Tascam US-144 USB audio interface, a Tascam TM-78 Studio condenser mic, and Sony Vegas Pro for editing, I think I can do some quality stuff. How good does it really have to be? Have you seen some of the shit on youtube? Something as simple as a guy with an acoustic guitar can make your eyes and ears scream out in agony. I do not want to be that guy!
Anyway, we’ll see how that goes as well as updating/maintaining this site.
Peace, T.

As you may or may not have noticed, which kinda depends on if you even come to this site, is that upon opening My Music Page, it automatically starts playing a song with a neat little flash plugin for Wordpress (Wordpress being what this site is built on). I had originally thought about making one from scratch and was googling my fingers off trying to find out how. I’m not sure why it didn’t occur to me to look for a plugin to serve my purpose but it came up in the searches that I was doing (several pages deep, I might add), and voila! …embedded music in a visitor controlled stand alone flash player…too f’ing cool!
